Chennai News: Chief Minister Vijay on Wednesday paid a surprise visit to the Government Children's Hospital, Egmore, in Chennai to review healthcare services and assess the quality of treatment being provided to mothers, newborns and children. During the inspection, the Chief Minister visited several departments of the hospital and interacted with doctors, medical staff and patients to obtain first-hand information about the functioning of the state's premier paediatric healthcare facility.

As part of the inspection, Vijay reviewed the medical services being provided to pregnant women, mothers and children undergoing treatment at the hospital. He toured various wards and departments, examining the facilities available for maternal and child healthcare while assessing the overall quality of patient care.

The Chief Minister held discussions with obstetricians and senior medical professionals to understand the hospital's functioning and the challenges faced by healthcare workers. During the interaction, he sought detailed information on several aspects, including maternal and child health services, obstetric care facilities, availability of medical equipment, treatment protocols and quality of healthcare being provided to patients. Officials briefed the Chief Minister on the existing infrastructure and the services offered at the hospital.

Following the review, Vijay instructed hospital authorities and officials to take all necessary steps to ensure that patients receive quality healthcare services without delay. He emphasised the need for efficient treatment, improved patient care and the timely availability of medical facilities so that mothers and children visiting the hospital receive the best possible care.

The Chief Minister's visit also featured several heartwarming moments as he spent time interacting with families in the maternity wards. Vijay was seen holding and cuddling newborn babies during his interaction with patients, drawing smiles from parents, hospital staff and those present at the facility.
