Coimbatore grocery shop worker dies after falling off open lift

COIMBATORE: A man working in a wholesale grocery shop in the city died after falling off an open lift on Saturday morning.The deceased has been identified as Suresh of Tiruchuli in Virudhunagar district.

He had been residing in R G Street for the past six years and working in the wholesale grocery shop run by Mohammed Thoufiq in the area.On Saturday morning, he was engaged in his routine work in the shop.According to sources, he went to the third floor of the building in an open lift, which is used to transport groceries between floors, but did not return for some time. Other workers searched for him and found him in a pool of blood on the ground floor. According to the sources, while going to the third floor, Suresh fell off the lift midway and died.On being alerted, the Bazaar police rushed to the spot and sent Suresh's body to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for postmortem.The police registered a case and began investigations.
