DIstrict Collector P. Raja Babu distributed cheques worth ₹8.49 crore to 109 SHG (self-help groups) in Thimmayapalem village of Addanki mandal in Prakasam district on Friday evening (June 5, 2026), as a part of the “Palle Nidra” programme.
He interacted with the SHG women and advised them to utilise the financial assistance being provided by the government to improve their livelihoods. He also encouraged the women to undergo timely medical check-ups and to take advantage of other healthcare services available through Anganwadi and ANMs.
Meanwhile, the locals submitted a list of petitions, including encroachment of 32-acre pond in the village, necessity to build side canals, sanctioning of new pucca houses and bore water facilities.
On Saturday morning (June 6), the Collector extensively toured the village. He inspected the waste management center and observed the segregation of wet and dry waste. He visited the safe water scheme and the lift irrigation scheme, and reviewed the work with officials from the Rural Water Supply (RWS) Department.
The Collector instructed the RWS officials to create awareness among the villagers regarding the drinking water supplied by the government, which contains many minerals. Later, he visited an exhibition of calves organised under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission at the same location. He examined the process of administering Albendazole tablets to unweaned calves.
He directed the Animal Husbandry Department officials to take steps to develop the dairy industry in the village. Later, he inspected the cemetery site at SC colony as the residents requested to build a boundary wall for the cemetery site. The Collector instructed the officials to take steps. He also observed the garbage collection from each house in SC Colony.
