Sri Sathya Sai District Collector A. Shyam Prasad on Thursday said that top priority will be given to expedite the works under Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) project to fill 195 irrigation tanks in Puttaparthi Assembly constituency.

The Collector, along with project officials, undertook an extensive field inspection of canal works and pump houses to review progress, capacity and construction quality. During the inspection, the Collector examined works along the 344.90-km stretch of the HNSS canal near Janakampalli-Puttaparthi road. Revenue Divisional Officer (Puttaparthi) P. Suvarna and HNSS engineers accompanied the Collector.

The project officials and contractors briefed the Collector on canal width, discharge capacity and water flow velocity. Mr. Shyam Prasad reviewed works at the OT-3 point at 343.250 km and the regulator, noting that completion of the OT-3 structure alone could facilitate water supply to around 143 tanks. He directed the engineers to complete all pending works on a war footing to ensure the timely release of water.

Menawhile, at Janakampalli, the Collector inspected Pump House-3 and associated yard works, verifying material quality, coating thickness, and adherence to technical standards.
