State-level tennis player Radhika Yadav was allegedly murdered by her father, Deepak Yadav, in Gurugram. He confessed, citing taunts about living off her income.

Radhika Yadav murder case: Father allegedly planned her murder

Radhika Yadav Murder Case: State-level tennis player Radhika Yadav’s murder, allegedly at the hands of her father, has sent chills down the spine across the nation. Her father, Deepak Yadav (49) was sent to 14-day police custody by a local court in Gurugram on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Deepak’s elder brother and Radhika’s paternal uncle, Vijay Yadav has said that the accused murderer is repenting his deeds and wants “to be hanged".

While speaking to Indian Express, Vijay said that his brother told him that he has committed kanya vadh (female slaughter) and wanted to be hanged.

“Whatever happened was wrong. In fact, when I was with him at the station, he told the police, ‘Write my statement and the FIR in such a way that I get hanged.’ He said he has committed kanya vadh (female slaughter)," Vijay told the news outlet.

What Deepak Told Police?

According to sources, Deepak confessed that he shot at Radhika because he was often taunted for living off her income. Police, however, in an official statement, claimed that the tennis academy Radhika ran was the bone of contention between the father and the daughter.

Police said Deepak allegedly could not stand Radhika’s success, as she was gradually rising in the ranks of tennis and was coaching at a private academy. She was individually teaching high-profile clients and was earning a decent income.

During questioning, police said Deepak claimed he was taunted by locals whenever he went to buy milk at his village in Wazirabad, as reported by The Indian Express. Deepak was allegedly upset after locals said his house was running on Radhika’s money, and he was also dependent on her.

Deepak also asked Radhika several times to stop working at the academy, but she refused. Unable to take the taunts anymore, he decided to kill her.

Radhika Yadav Murder

Radhika Yadav, the 25-year-old tennis player, was shot dead allegedly by her own father at the family’s double-storey home in the upscale Sushant Lok area of Gurugram on Thursday. Deepak later confessed to killing his daughter and was arrested.

The police said that they were investigating all possible angles in Radhika’s murder, including what her mother was doing when the incident occurred. According to an FIR registered based on the complaint of the deceased’s uncle, Kuldeep Yadav, Radhika’s mother was present on the first floor of the house when the shooting took place.
