Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) founder Manda Krishna Madiga slammed the Congress government led by A. Revanth Reddy for its failure to hike social security pensions, demanding an immediate increase in the monthly pension to ₹6,000 for persons with disabilities and ₹4,000 for Cheyutha pensioners.
Addressing the ‘Maha Garjana’, a massive public meeting held at Kollur village in the Patancheruvu Assembly constituency on Monday, he said, “It’s been 21 months since the Revanth government came to power, but the poor are still waiting for the implementation of the pension hike. Before the elections, there were already 45 lakh pensioners, and since then, another 10 lakh eligible applicants have sought pensions.”
Questioning the government’s commitment, he warned that they would intensify the agitation if the hike was not implemented. “Dharna programmes will be held across all 33 districts of Telangana, and in the coming days, we will block the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway, forcing the government to finally take notice and act on its promise,” he added.
