Congress leaders cleanse Martyrs Memorial at Gun Park

Congress leaders performed a symbolic milk cleansing of the Telangana martyrs memorial on Mondat at Gun Park, alleging that it had been desecrated earlier in the day by the visit of BRS legislators.

Earlier in the morning, several BRS MLAs and MLCs ledby K.T. Rama Rao staged a protest at Martyrs’ Memorial after paying tributes to Telangana martyrs. The BRS legislators demaneed statutory backing to the six guarantees.

The protest, however, triggered objections from Congress leaders, who accused the BRS of attempting to politicize the memorial.

Congress leader and State Fisheries Corporation Chairman Mettu Sai Kumar, speaking at the site, strongly criticized the presence of BRS leaders at the monument. He claimed that their visit had ‘defiled’ the sanctity of the memorial dedicated to Telangana’s martyrs.

Later, Mr. Sai Kumar and other Congress workers poured milk over the stupa as a symbolic gesture to cleanse it.
