BJP leader and Chairperson of the A.P. 20-Point Programme Implementation Committee Lanka Dinakar on Monday (April 20, 2026) accused the Congress-led INDIA bloc of obstructing women’s empowerment, and said the bloc’s stand could harm the political representation of southern States. He defended the Centre’s proposal to increase the number of Lok Sabha seats by 50%.
Addressing a press conference at the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat here, Mr. Dinakar said the Opposition’s position in Parliament had weakened “Nari Shakti” and hurt women, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Backward Class and Other Community groups. He accused the Congress and its allies of opposing wider representation and failing to back measures for inclusive growth.
