Alleging that the Congress is trying to mislead the country over the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin), or VB-G RAM G, Act, 2025, Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Monday that the Opposition party is using AI generated videos to spread misconception about the new law.

Addressing a press conference, Chouhan said, “Today, I saw two videos of the Congress on social media; there are no humans visible in either of them, they are AI generated. (Congress President) Mallikarjun Kharge ji and Rahul (Gandhi) ji are not strengthening the roots of Congress but, instead, hollowing them out by spreading lies, misconception and misinformation.”

Referring to a letter written by Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Chouhan said, the letter issued by the All India Congress Committee is “full of lies and deceit”. Chouhan alleged that Kharge and Gandhi are trying to “mislead the country by spreading false propaganda and misconception” about the provisions of the G RAM G Act.

Hitting out at the Opposition party, Chouhan said that the Congress has abandoned its “ideas, ideology, and ideals”. The Congress, which gave the slogan of “Garibi Hatao (Remove Poverty)” in 1971, has pushed the poor to the margins, he said. Chouhan said that under the NDA government, more than 25 crore people have been lifted above the poverty line.

Chouhan stated that 10 crore assets have been created under the MGNREGA, of which approximately 8.5 crore have been created under the NDA government.

Responding to a question on whether the 60:40 ratio of funding under the VB-G RAM G Act would leave states without enough money to spend on employment, the former Madhya Pradesh CM said, “I have been the Chief Minister of a state for almost four terms. We never faced a shortage of funds. There is no shortage of money for other schemes, especially when states are receiving more funds under this scheme (VB-G RAM G).”

Chouhan’s remarks came a day after the Congress released a two-page letter written by party President Kharge and LoP Gandhi to Gram Pradhans, ex-Gram Pradhans, Rojgar Sevaks and MGNREGA workers. In the letter, the Congress leaders have urged the people to join their party’s MGNREGA Bachao Sangram protest against the VB-G RAM G Act.
