As the Iran war entered its 12th day, tensions across West Asia intensified with Iran attacking its neighbouring countries. Amid the growing conflict, a container ship was struck by a suspected projectile near the United Arab Emirates, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).
UKMTO said it received a report of an incident involving a container vessel around 25 nautical miles northwest of Ras Al Khaimah, in the United Arab Emirates. Another report indicated that a splash from an unknown projectile was seen near the ship about 20 nautical miles west of Dubai.
According to the ship’s master, the vessel sustained damage from a suspected but unknown projectile.

Crew safe, damage under investigation
UKMTO said the extent of the damage remains unknown and is currently being investigated by the crew. The master of the vessel confirmed that all crew members are safe and accounted for.
Following the report, UKMTO advised vessels in the area to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity while authorities continue to investigate the incident.
