Cooper DeJean explains why loving a Cowboys cheerleader doesn't compromise his commitment to the Philadelphia Eagles

Cooper DeJean is done letting the internet write his story for him. The Philadelphia Eagles cornerback has spent months getting teased for dating Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Abby Summers, and on a recent episode of his Exciting Mics podcast, he finally addressed it head on.

A fan had called in and suggested the relationship "could be messy" given the two franchises are bitter rivals. DeJean shut that idea down fast, and he did it without much drama at all.

How did Cooper DeJean and Abby Summers start dating?

The timeline actually goes back further than most fans realized. Cooper DeJean and Summers crossed paths for the first time near the college football national championship game, and things picked up from there during Super Bowl weekend in New Orleans."We met well, we had known about each other for some time, and then we happened to be both in Florida at the same time during the national championship game," DeJean said. "She was down there, I was down there, and then I met her down there, and then I believe the next weekend was a Super Bowl, and she was out at the Super Bowl also."From there, things moved quickly but quietly. "So we had hung out there a couple times and then yeah, it was kind of just after that we just kept seeing each other, hanging out," he added.

Fans got their first real look at the two together back in March, when cameras caught DeJean glued to Summers' side during Iowa's Elite Eight loss. Jason Kelce even joked that DeJean was "pulling a Trojan Horse." Still, neither of them said a word publicly until Summers posted a Kentucky Derby TikTok in May, complete with her DCC teammates cheering the reveal on in the comments.

"I don't really think it's a conflict of interest," he said. "I mean, it's not like we both play football. Yeah, exactly. We don't play football. She's a cheerleader." He's pointed out elsewhere that there is no insider information changing hands either way, since their jobs don't overlap at all.Summers has danced since she was two years old and later helped Ohio State's dance team win six national titles before landing a spot on the Cowboys cheerleading squad, where she also appeared on Netflix's "America's Sweethearts."
