On June 28, a surprising story took over basketball circles online. While most fans know Cooper Flagg, the top basketball prospect of his class, few realized he has a twin brother who is making his own name. This story gained attention after a post by ClutchPoints on X went viral.
Ace Flagg, Cooper Flagg's twin, is now getting ready to play college basketball for the University of Maine starting this fall.
The 18-year-old guard may not have the national spotlight his brother has, but his journey has been just as full of victories. Both brothers grew up in Newport, Maine, and played basketball together from a young age.They started at Nokomis Regional High School and won a state championship. Then they moved to Montverde Academy in Florida, one of the top high school programs in the country.When Cooper reclassified and left early, Ace transferred to Greensboro Day School in North Carolina for his final year.
There, Ace led his team to another state title in March 2025.
Ace Flagg declined offers to stay close to home
Ace Flagg had college offers from schools like West Virginia University and Florida Gulf Coast University. But instead of choosing a bigger program, he decided to stay close to his roots and committed to the University of Maine."It felt right," Ace said in a recent interview. "Being near family, being in Maine, it's where I want to grow."According to 247Sports, Ace is listed as a three-star recruit.
Coaches who have watched him say his style is different from Cooper’s but still very effective. He plays more as a traditional guard, focused on passing and control.Though Cooper Flagg is heading toward the NBA spotlight, many are now starting to take notice of Ace’s quiet success. One coach from his Greensboro Day team said, “He’s not just Cooper’s brother. He’s a winner in his way.”Fans and analysts alike are watching both brothers closely.
