Days after it was revealed that Kay Patrick has passed away, the soap opera paid tribute to the former director of the show who was responsible for a lot of the episodes that aired. They shared a tribute featuring an old photo of the director along with the words, “In memory of Kay Patrick 1941-2026."

Kay Patrick joined the beloved sitcom all the way back in 1994 and worked there for over 21 years on the show as a director. She is best known for directing some of the most iconic episodes over the years, including the final episode of actress Julie Hesmondhalgh, who announced her exit from the show in 2013. Her exit from the show was filmed in a heartbreaking sequence as her character, Hayley Cropper, passed away in Roy's arms after drinking a poisonous cocktail after she had been suffering from pancreatic cancer for years.

Over the course of her career with the show, she is credited with directing around 250 episodes.Patrick was born in Hull, East Yorkshire, on September 2, 1944, and was the youngest of 4 siblings. She always had a keen interest in the arts, and after moving to Leeds with her family, she started attending the local College of Music and Drama. At 16, she moved to London alone to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She started her journey as a theatre actor, and scored her first role in ‘Gigi’ in 1958. She started directing after working in a few projects here and there until the 70s.Her first show as a director was ‘Waggoners’ Walk.’ Over the years, she worked on various big-budget soap operas, which also included ‘EastEnders’, ‘Brookside’, ‘Emmerdale’, and ‘Holby City.’
