US President Donald Trump dismissed the threats issued by Iran’s security chief, Ali Larijani, stating he “couldn’t care less" and that he has “already been defeated".

“I have no idea what he’s talking about, who he is. I couldn’t care less," Trump told CBS News. He added that Larijani has “already been defeated."

The president reiterated that the US strikes on Iran will continue, demanding an “unconditional surrender" from Tehran.

Ali Larijani, the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, warned Trump, saying Iran would “avenge the blood of our leader and our people".

“We will relentlessly avenge the blood of our Leader and our people. Trump must pay and will pay", he added.

Larijani, one of the closest aides of slain leader Ali Khamenei, said Iranian strikes against the United States and Israel are ongoing and have caused severe losses to both the countries.

Invoking the US military’s involvement in Venezuela — resulting in the capture of its President Nicolas Maduro — Larijani said, “America thought it could end the war in a short period, just as it did in Venezuela, but it failed".

The remarks come as the United States and Israel engage in high-intensity strikes against Iran as Tehran’s nuclear programme faltered, with West Asia plunging into a renewed military confrontation.

On February 28, the US and Israel carried out joint strikes against Iran, killing its Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei and marking a dramatic escalation to the conflict.

According to reports, over 1,000 people have so far been killed in Iran and over a dozen in Israel. In addition, six US soldiers have also been killed in the conflict.
