Couple dies in road accident in Farrukhabad

Kanpur: A couple on a motorcycle died and their 13-year-old son was injured seriously in a road accident on the Etawah-Bareilly Highway in Farrukhabad on Monday morning. The incident occurred under Allahganj police station area when a loader collided with the motorcycle.According to reports, Santosh Sharma (55), resident of Bagiya village under Allahganj police station area of Shahjahanpur, was going with his wife Kiran (49) and son Shobhit (13) on a motorcycle to attend the wedding of his aunt’s son. They had left home around 3 am on Monday. Near Ujirpur Banjar in Allahganj, a loader collided with their motorcycle. Kiran died on the spot, while a seriously injured Santosh and his son Shobhit were brought by family members to Farrukhabad’s Dr Rammanohar Lohia Hospital, where Dr Pradeep Rajput declared Santosh dead.

The injured Shobhit is undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Kiran’s body was sent to Shahjahanpur for post mortem.Shobhit’s uncle Manoj said Shobhit is youngest among four siblings. According to Manoj, since wedding ceremony was scheduled to be held during daytime, the family left home early morning. Santosh was a farmer and also ran a timber business. He had married off his elder daughter. The hospital administration has kept the body in the mortuary and informed the police station.
