Couple found dead on Rapur ghat

A couple allegedly died by suicide in the dense forest abutting the Rapur–Chitvel ghat road on Tuesday (March 3, 2026). The police said that the bodies of the deceased, identified as Alapaka Prasanna Kumar of Muthukur and M. Savitri of Chittamur, were found by the residents of Pangili village, who had gone to collect honey from the forest.

Pangili VRO Sudhakar and Sub-Inspector Venkat Rajesh reached the spot, identified the bodies with the help of the mobile phones found in their handbag, and informed their family members. The police have registered a case and are investigating.
