Couple, toddler son dead as speeding truck hits bike in Kasganj

Agra: A couple and their 18-month-old son returning home from a relative’s wedding died after a speeding truck mowed down their motorcycle on a bridge in Kadarganj area of Kasganj district in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday evening.Somveer Singh (30), a cabbie operating in Delhi-NC, his wife, Amita (27), and their son Shiva were residents of Rampura village in Patiyali area of Kasganj.“The family was returning home to Patiyali after attending a wedding at Amita’s maternal relatives’ village in Rajlamau in neighbouring Badaun district. Around 7 pm, as they reached the Kadarganj Ganga bridge in Sikandarpur Vaishya area, a speeding truck rammed into their bike, killing all three instantly,” said Sikandarpur Vaish SHO Ajayveer Singh.The truck driver fled, leaving the vehicle behind. Nayab tehsildar Mukesh Kumar said the bodies have been handed over to the family after postmortem examination.Kasganj SP OP Singh said, “A case will be registered after police receive a written complaint.”
