In connection with the Communist Party of India (CPI) State conference to be held in Alappuzha from September 8 to 12, flag, banner and flagpole processions will be organised.
Speaking to media persons here on Saturday, Agriculture Minister P. Prasad said the flag procession will begin from Kayyur on August 31. It will be inaugurated by CPI national executive member K. Prakash Babu. National executive member K.P. Rajendran will lead the procession.
The banner procession will start on September 1 from the Martyrs’ Memorial at Palayam. It will be inaugurated by CPI national executive member P. Santosh Kumar, MP. Mahila Sangham, State president P. Vasantham will lead the procession.
The flagpole procession will be inaugurated by CPI State executive member Mullakkara Ratnakaran on September 2 at the Martyrs’ Memorial at Sooranad. It will be led by Kisan Sabha State president K.V. Vasantha Kumar.
All three processions will reach Alappuzha on September 3. P.K. Medini will hoist the flag at Atul Kumar Anjan Nagar (Alappuzha beach) at 6 p.m.
The torch procession to the venue of the delegates’ conference will commence from Vayalar Martyrs’ Memorial on September 9. It will be inaugurated by CPI State assistant secretary and E. Chandrasekharan, MLA, will inaugurate it. All India Youth Federation State president N. Arun will lead the procession.
CPI State secretary Binoy Viswam will receive the torch at Kanam Rajendran Nagar (S.K. Convention Centre, Kalarcode) at 10 a.m. on September 10, the inaugural day of the delegates’ conference. K.R. Chandramohan will hoist the flag.
As part of the conference, cultural and art programmes will be held on Alappuzha beach from August 31.
