The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] has reprimanded its Mannarkkad area secretary N.K. Narayanan and Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) district secretary K.C. Riyasudheen for the alleged sexist remarks they made in the wake of dissident leader P.K. Sasi’s expulsion from the party.

Mr. Narayanan had said that women from respectable families could now come to the Mannarkkad area committee office after the expulsion of Mr. Sasi. Mr. Riyasudheen, in an FB post, had said that the CPI(M) office was a centre for immoral activities for Mr. Sasi. The party has reportedly asked Mr. Riyasudheen to take down his post.

The CPI(M) issued the stricture at a meeting attended by party central committee member K.S. Saleekha and district secretary E.N. Suresh Babu.

The CPI(M) district leadership said the statements made by both Mr. Narayanan and Mr. Riyasudheen had brought disrepute to the party and could not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Earlier, the All India Democratic Women’s Association and some other party units had come out against the statements made by the duo.
