CPI(ML) targets NDA over state’s land policy

CPI(ML) vows to fight BJP's 'bulldozer rule' in Bihar, accusing the NDA government of planning to seize land for corporations by displacing the poor and landless. The party will organize a state convention in Darbhanga and a nationwide protest against 'anti-worker' trade codes. Members also criticized PM Modi's stance on the West Asia conflict.

Begusarai: Central committee member of the CPI(ML) Saroj Choubey on Sunday said her party would resist every bid of the BJP to make Bihar a testing ground for ‘bulldozer rule’ like Uttar Pradesh.

She alleged that the NDA govt intends to create land banks for corporates by depriving the marginalised and the landless of their shelters.Choubey was speaking on the concluding day of the two-day district convention of CPI(ML) workers on Sunday. She said CPI(ML) will continue to raise the issues of poor, landless, dalits, small farmers and other marginalised sections of the society. “To give more teeth to it, the party will organise a three-day state convention of workers in Darbhanga from May 16-18.

Begusarai has become a priority region in the party’s strengthening drive, given its history as a Left bastion,” she said.During the convention, a 27-member committee of the district unit of the party was formed. District secretary Divakar Prasad said during the convention party workers took exception to the trade codes introduced by the Union govt dubbing it as “anti-workers”. “The district unit of the party will leave no stone unturned to make the nation-wide protest on April 1 called by various trade unions a success in the district.

The party members blamed PM Narendra Modi for not giving support to the country’s long-trusted partner Iran in the ongoing war in West Asia,” he said.
