CPI urges Grand Alliance unity to take on NDA in Bihar polls

Patna: CPI general secretary D Raja on Monday said that the Grand Alliance partners must work with complete unity to successfully defeat the BJP-led NDA in the upcoming assembly polls.Raja was addressing the open session of the five-day 25th state conference of the CPI, which began on Monday at Gardanibagh.“The partners of the INDIA bloc will have to increase cooperation, develop a common understanding, and practice mutual accommodation. To defeat the BJP, democratic and secular forces must conduct a united struggle,” Raja said.Commenting on the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll, he said, “The Election Commission is not fulfilling its constitutional responsibility.

The movement that started in Bihar for the protection of voters’ rights has now become a national wave. We will not allow vote theft to occur in Bihar during the assembly polls.”He said, “The EC is conspiring with the NDA govt to deprive the poor, Dalits, backward caste groups, women, and other deprived sections of their voting rights through the SIR.” He also highlighted the growing inequality in society.Among others who addressed the open session were national secretaries Nagendra Nath Ojha and Girish Sharma, and the party’s state secretary Ram Naresh Pandey. The session was presided over by former vice-chancellor and chairman of the conference reception committee, Karyanand Sharma.
