New Delhi: Twelve alleged drug peddlers, including a Nigerian national, have been arrested in a series of anti-narcotics operations in outer north Delhi. Police seized cocaine, heroin, MDMA, ganja, poppy husk and psychotropic tablets and dismantled multiple drug supply networks.In one of the cases, five people, including a Nigerian national, were arrested and 13.99 grams of cocaine, 0.50 grams of MDMA and 0.55 grams of heroin were seized. The operation began on June 28 after police at Mukarba Chowk intercepted Umesh (32) from Jaipur, who allegedly tried to flee during routine checking, DCP Shobhit D. Saksena said. Police recovered 8.68 grams of cocaine concealed inside a cigarette packet from his bag.During interrogation, Umesh allegedly disclosed that he was working as a courier for a Jaipur-based network run by Yash Vashisth and coordinated by Vijay. Acting on the leads and technical surveillance, police arrested Vijay, who allegedly identified Nigerian national Temple Osuji as the supplier. He was arrested from Jaipur’s Jagatpura area with 3.06 grams of cocaine. Police subsequently raided Yash’s residence and arrested him and his accomplice, Ritika alias Ritu, recovering another 2.25 grams of cocaine, 0.50 grams of MDMA and 0.55 grams of heroin.
In separate operations, police arrested Salim (26) and Mukesh (36) from Saboli Road in Narela and recovered 5 kg poppy husk; Rahul alias Asarul (28) was arrested with 276.25 grams of heroin in Narela.Police also busted an alleged psychotropic drug supply racket with the arrest of Amit alias Bhoka and Abid Ali alias Sahil Khan. A total of 1,394 Buprenorphine and Naloxone sublingual tablets weighing 132.9 grams—a commercial quantity under the NDPS Act—were recovered during follow-up raids in Shahbad Dairy and Wazirabad Road.In yet another case, Parveen (50) and Shahnaj (40) were held from a jhuggi in JJ Colony, Bawana, and 1.57 kg of ganja was recovered. Police said investigations are underway to trace the source of the contraband and identify other members of the drug networks.
