Craft and architecture converge in upcoming Delhi exhibition

The Space Between, an exhibition examining the relationship between traditional craft and contemporary architectural design, will open on April 3 at Ojas Art.Curated by Anubhav Nath, the exhibition brings together works by Siddhartha Das and Chiara Nath.

The show focuses on spatial concepts such as form, void, light and proximity, presented through a range of sculptural, textile and installation-based works.According to organisers, the exhibition features pieces inspired by architectural and historical forms, including stepwells, temple structures and gateways. These include sculptural relief murals, carved wooden and stone elements, and cast forms influenced by natural and built environments.

Textile works using embroidery and other techniques are also part of the display, alongside studies of light and shadow and material-based explorations. The works combine traditional craft practices, developed through collaborations with artisans, with contemporary and industrial processes. The exhibition also includes short films that document the ideas and processes behind the works.Das, who founded his studio in 2002, has worked across scenography, spatial design and museum installations, with projects at institutions such as the Victoria and Albert Museum and sites across Indian cities. Nath’s practice spans graphic and industrial design, fashion and other disciplines.A preview of the exhibition will be held on April 3 from 5 pm to 8 pm. It will open to the public from April 4 and continue until May 3, with viewing hours from 11 am to 7 pm daily.
