Crocodile found dead in Vishwamitri

Vadodara: An eight-foot-long crocodile was found dead in the Vishwamitri River in the city on Sunday. The reptile was retrieved from the river and sent to the forest department for a postmortem on Monday.Forest officials said the crocodile had been rescued from the Bil area about a week ago and admitted to a veterinary hospital in the city for treatment. The reptile had sustained injuries to its genital region and was provided medical care before being released into the Vishwamitri River four days ago.However, the crocodile was later found floating in the river behind Vadodara Central Jail. Preliminary indications suggest it may have died due to internal bleeding, officials said.Wildlife activist Siddharth Amin said the exact cause of death would be known only after the postmortem report is released.
