CSR: HDFC Bank, Smile Foundation Deploy 8 Mobile Health Units in North India

Initiative to deliver integrated primary healthcare to over 4 lakh individuals in Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand.

NEW DELHI (India CSR): HDFC Bank on Thursday said it has partnered with Smile Foundation to deploy eight mobile medical care units (MCUs) across remote regions of North India, aiming to provide primary healthcare access to over 4 lakh people.

 The initiative, under the bank’s CSR programme ‘Parivartan’, will cover Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab and Uttarakhand, and will run from April 2026 to March 2028.

The MCUs will offer services such as OPD consultations, diagnostics, free medicines, and referral linkages to public health centres, the bank said.

The programme will also focus on maternal and child healthcare, screening for non-communicable diseases including hypertension, diabetes and anaemia, as well as school health interventions covering hygiene, nutrition and menstrual health.

Speaking on the initiative, Nusrat Pathan, Head – CSR, HDFC Bank, said it aims to bridge gaps in healthcare access in underserved geographies.

Santanu Mishra, Co-Founder and Executive Trustee of Smile Foundation, said the partnership will strengthen last-mile healthcare delivery and complement government efforts.

Smile Foundation will implement the programme, including deployment of medical staff and adherence to protocols set by the Indian Council of Medical Research, while linking beneficiaries to schemes under the National Health Mission.

The initiative aligns with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and national programmes such as the Anemia Mukt Bharat mission.
