GURUGRAM / NEW DELHI (India CSR): Maruti Suzuki India Limited (“Maruti Suzuki”) announced the start of two focused health interventions to address pressing public health challenges in rural and semi-urban communities in Haryana. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals – SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality), these initiatives aim to improve awareness and enhance long-term health outcomes, especially for adolescents, women, and mothers.
Menstrual Hygiene
A year-long Menstrual Hygiene Project is underway in two Government Schools of Rohtak, and Kharkhoda and will subsequently expand to eight schools in Manesar. Menstrual health remains one of the most under-discussed yet critical aspects of well-being of women. Planned to reach over 4,500 students from class 6th to 12th, the program will help to spread awareness, overcome misconceptions, adopt hygienic practices and drive long-term behavior change. It will engage parents, teachers, and community stakeholders as well, to create a supportive environment.

Anaemia Reduction
A comprehensive Anaemia Reduction Program has also commenced across 10 villages in Gurugram, Rohtak and Sonipat districts. This builds upon the Anaemia related interventions taken in the past in Haryana. As per World Health Organization (WHO), Anaemia continues to be a global public health concern, mostly affecting young children, pregnant and postpartum women, as well as menstruating adolescent girls. Aligned with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s ‘Anemia Mukt Bharat Mission’, the initiative is set to reach around 16,500 beneficiaries with special focus on the vulnerable group. Maruti Suzuki is implementing this program in collaboration with the state government. The program includes screening, nutrition awareness, and sustained follow-ups for health-review of community members.

Announcing these initiatives, Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “At Maruti Suzuki, we believe that true leadership is about sharing and spreading progress. Through our comprehensive CSR interventions, we strive to uplift communities around our plants. Our community development efforts span across healthcare, education, sanitation, water access, and infrastructure. Our Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Project and the Anaemia Reduction Program are set to reach over 21,000 people, including adolescents, women, and mothers.”
