India could hand Test debut to Anshul Kamboj

TimesofIndia.com in Manchester: Team India could hand a maiden Test cap to fast bowler Anshul Kamboj in the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford, Manchester, starting Wednesday. The Haryana pacer traveled with the squad to Manchester, where the Indian team met players and staff of Premier League giants Manchester United on Sunday. Kamboj was also seen in action during Monday's net session, bowling under the watchful eyes of head coach Gautam Gambhir and bowling coach Morne Morkel. He was among four pacers — alongside Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna — who bowled in the nets, with Gambhir keeping a particularly close watch on the uncapped seamer.Kamboj was seen bowling at full throttle during the net session. Meanwhile, Akash Deep, who is nursing a groin niggle, did not bowl during the session. He underwent a fitness test under the supervision of Morkel and the team physio earlier in the day. With Arshdeep Singh ruled out of the fourth Test due to a hand injury and Nitish Kumar Reddy out for the remainder of the series, India are dealing with a depleted pace attack. If Akash Deep is deemed unfit, Anshul Kamboj could be in line for a debut in what is a must-win match for India.
