Cultural procession to kick off celebrations for 71st Nehru Trophy Boat Race

In the run-up to the 71st Nehru Trophy Boat Race (NTBR), Alappuzha Municipality, District Administration, Kerala Tourism, and District Tourism Promotion Council will jointly organise various cultural programmes. A cultural procession will be held on Monday. It will be flagged off by District Collector Alex Varghese at Collectorate Junction in the evening.

The pageant will feature the participation of people’s representatives, artists, sportspersons, school and college students, Kudumbashree workers, anganwadi and ASHA workers and members of Haritha Karma Sena, among others. It will conclude near Nalppalam.

On the occasion, a meeting will be inaugurated by P.P. Chitharanjan, MLA. The five-day-long cultural programmes beginning Monday will be held at Mullackal John’s Ground. The NTBR will be held on Punnamada Lake in Alappuzha on August 30.
