Cyberabad police rescue 7 trafficked children, detain 70 for indecent acts

Seven trafficked children, including six girls and a boy from Jharkhand were rescued by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) and along with the Rescue Foundation, Delhi, during a raid on Mahara Pushya Agri Products Pvt. Ltd. in Kondurg on August 20. They were handed over to the National Human Rights Commission for rehabilitation.

The AHTU additionally carried out night raids in several areas including Gachibowli, Madhapur, Narsingi, KPHB Colony, Kukatpally and Sanathnagar, leading to the rescue of 15 transgenders and 16 women from prostitution.

A total of 70 individuals were held for indulging in indecent acts in public places by the Cyberabad Police She Teams during the week-long enforcement drive. A total of 143 decoy operations were carried out between August 17 and 23.

As part of preventive measures, 75 awareness programmes were held across various locations, along with three counselling sessions at the Women and Children Safety Wing headquarters. At the Family Counselling Centre, 34 couples were counselled in marital disputes, with efforts made to resolve conflicts and reunite families.

The AHTU also conducted awareness drives that saw participation from nearly 140 people. Topics covered included human and child trafficking, eve-teasing, social media harassment, child marriages, child rights, child labour, stalking, begging, cyberbullying, and online fraud. Helplines such as 181 for women, 1098 for children, and 1930 for cybercrime reporting were highlighted.

On August 23, a women safety and POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) session was conducted for 150 cab drivers at DuPont in the Financial District. The session educated participants on what constitutes sexual harassment, the legal framework for prevention, and the mechanisms available for reporting and redressal, to foster safer and more respectful workplaces.
