Czech woman, 66, assaulted at Agonda

Canacona: Police, on Wednesday, arrested Quepem resident Rohan Velip, 22, for allegedly assaulting Czech national Zdenka Pejsova, 66, on Feb 9, while he was under the influence of alcohol.Police said the way Pejsova was seated blocked Velip’s way to Agonda beach, leading to an argument. Then Velip allegedly assaulted the Czech with a stone and pulled her hair, causing injuries. He then fled the scene.A passer-by saw her and took her to a private hospital for treatment. Acting on her complaint, police gathered CCTV footage and began a search operation. They traced him to Bendurdem, where they apprehended him.
