What began as a weekend getaway ended in tragedy for a 25-year-old tourist after he dived into a shallow swimming pool at a resort in Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district. The fatal incident, captured on video, has since gone viral on social media.

The victim, identified as Shrenik Milind Takale from Kolhapur district, was on a trip with nine friends when the accident took place at a resort in Vayari village in Malvan taluka on June 20.

Head struck bottom of children’s pool

According to police, moments before the incident, Takale and his friends were seen dancing beside the swimming pool. A video recorded at the resort shows him climbing to a height of around eight to ten feet before diving headfirst into a shallow section of the pool meant for children.

The pool was only about four feet deep. Police said the impact of the dive caused Takale’s head to hit the bottom of the pool, resulting in severe head injuries. He collapsed immediately after the dive. His friends rushed him to Malvan Rural Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police register accidental death case

Police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in connection with the incident. After post-mortem formalities, the body was handed over to the victim’s family. The investigation is being carried out under the supervision of Police Sub-Inspector Ganesh Mane.

The video of the incident has spread widely on social media, drawing significant public attention. The footage captures the moments leading up to the fatal dive, which turned what was meant to be a holiday with friends into a tragic loss.
