Dasara: Puppetry, sculpture, painting events from Sept. 22

As part of Mysuru Dasara 2025, the Dasara Fine Arts and Handicrafts sub-committee is organising various events from September 22.

A press conference was held at Chamarajendra Government College of Visual Arts (CAVA), Mysuru on Monday, where the committee members and officials shared details about the upcoming events.

Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi will inaugurate a leather puppetry crafting camp and an exhibition of Mysuru paintings at the CAVA premises on September 22 at 4 p.m.

The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) is supporting the exhibition featuring both traditional Mysuru paintings and contemporary artworks, while the Karnataka Lalithakala Akademi is supporting the leather puppetry crafting camp.

The committee has invited artworks from both amateur and professional artists across the state for exhibition and sale, as well as a competition. The artworks will be on display from September 26 to 30, between 10.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. Minister in charge of Mysuru district H.C. Mahadevappa will inaugurate the exhibition on September 26 at 4 p.m.

A sculpture camp is also being conducted in association with the Karnataka Sculpture Akademi. The first phase of the camp was held from September 2 to 8, and the second phase is scheduled from September 22 to 28. Sculptors from various parts of the state are participating in the camp, and their sculptures will be displayed starting September 28. Minister H.C. Mahadevappa will inaugurate the sculpture exhibition.
