A dating event scheduled at Cubbon Park on Sunday was cancelled after furore from the Walkers’ Association and a complaint by the Horticulture Department.
The Cubbon Park police summoned the organiser for questioning, following which he gave an undertaking and later cancelled the show and even pulled down the ad for the event.
A similar event was also held in Koramangala which was cancelled after the police intervened.
The Horticulture Department, in its complaint, said that they had not given any permission for such an event and filed a complaint after they saw the advertisement. Senior officials of the department also spoke to the cyber crime ACP and DCP seeking action.
“No commercial activities are allowed in Cubbon Park. As per the rules, no private companies are allowed to conduct any commercial activities in Cubbon Park except for public walking and government departmental programmes. But Book My Show had planned to conduct a Blind Date event through ticket booking from August 2 to 30. Therefore, a case has been registered against Book My Show,” said Kusuma G., Deputy Director, Horticulture Department (Cubbon Park), Bengaluru.
