David Moyes Wants To Save West Ham From PL Relegation, Looks To Sink Spurs

David Moyes admits he wants to help save former club West Ham from relegation by defeating Spurs this weekend, but insists Everton’s top-10 finish remains his priority.

Although Everton are realistically out of the race for European football, manager David Moyes admits he still has one emotional objective left — helping save his former Premier League club from relegation.

Everton travel to face Tottenham on Sunday, with Spurs currently sitting just two points above 18th-placed West Ham United heading into the final matchday.

West Ham, however, are in a desperate position. They must beat Leeds and hope Tottenham lose to Everton to stand any chance of survival.

Given West Ham’s far inferior goal difference, even a draw for Spurs would almost certainly keep them up.

Moyes, for his part, is willing to do all he can to keep the Hammers up.

“I’d love to keep West Ham in the league if I can," Moyes told reporters on Friday.

The Scot spent five-and-a-half years across two separate spells managing West Ham between 2017 and 2024, guiding the London club to one of the greatest moments in their modern history by winning the UEFA Europa Conference League Final in 2023.

Still, Moyes insisted sentiment will not distract him from Everton’s own objectives.

“It’s more important I get Everton that top finish and we get a few more million pounds because of our league position," he added.

Everton could still mathematically finish inside the top 10 depending on results elsewhere, though their recent form has dipped badly. The Toffees head into the finale on a six-match winless run.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have steadied themselves under new boss Roberto De Zerbi and have lost just once in their last five league matches after spending parts of the season trapped in the relegation battle.
