Star Liverpool left winger Cody Gakpo was left in tears on Tuesday after scoring against Morocco in the Round of 32 clash at the FIFA World Cup, hours after his partner suffered a miscarriage and their unborn son passed away.

Gakpo’s partner, Noa van der Bij, shared the news of the loss on social media on Saturday, June 27. The Dutch forward was granted time away from the team to be with his family, who are staying near the Netherlands’ FIFA World Cup base in Kansas City.
