DDA warn against encroachment, issues public notice

New Delhi: Delhi Development Authority (DDA) Thursday issued a public notice warning against unauthorised occupation and encroachment on land owned or vested in the authority.

It said all DDA land is govt land under Delhi Development Act, 1957, and any illegal occupation, construction or use is a violation of law.The authority said, “it will remove encroachments and unauthorised occupations without issuing any further notice, adding that the cost of demolition and removal will be recovered from the encroachers as arrears of land revenue. The notice will serve as a standing notice to all unauthorised occupants of DDA land.”DDA also advised the public not to occupy govt land or engage in the purchase, sale, transfer or advertisement of properties situated on DDA land without verifying their legal status, title and ownership. It asked those in unauthorised occupation to remove the encroachments immediately. The move comes amid mounting pressure to remove encroachment from DDA land including floodplain. The authority said enforcement action may include demolition of illegal structures, recovery of damages or mesne profits and prosecution or registration of FIRs under applicable laws wherever required.

Recently, DDA carried out demolition action at Yamuna Bazaar.People have also been urged to report instances of encroachment through DDA-311 mobile application, the concerned DDA office or the authority’s grievance redressal mechanism. The authority has constituted 14 flying squads under its land management department to protect govt land. The flying squads are supported by field inspections conducted by dedicated field survey teams and a performance-monitoring mechanism. As part of sustained enforcement drives, nearly 241.5 acres of govt land have been reclaimed since April 2025. Additionally, 236 acres of land in development areas have been cleared of illegal constructions.
