'Death To America, Israel' Chants Ring Out As Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's Funeral Begins In Iran | Watch

Thousands of mourners gathered at Tehran's Grand Mosalla to bid farewell to Khamenei, who was killed in the initial salvo of US-Israeli strikes on February 28.

As Iran prepared a teary-eyed farewell to slain Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, thousands of mourners gathered at Tehran’s Grand Mosalla and chanted slogans of “death to America" and “death to Israel", while calling for revenge.

Iran officially began six days of public funeral ceremonies for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in the initial salvo of US-Israeli strikes on February 28. The processions are due to continue in Iraq before Khamenei’s burial.

Mourners carried red banners, a symbol associated with calls for revenge, as they gathered in the Imam Khomeini Mosalla and chanted “death to America" and “revenge, revenge", AFP reported. This is Iran’s largest public gathering since the funeral of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in 1989.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in the opening phase of the US-Iran conflict in February, alongside several members of his family, including his daughter, son-in-law, infant granddaughter and daughter-in-law.
