Dehradun man tortured with electric shocks, screwdriver for 6 hours; 2 booked

Dehradun: A 34-year-old man was allegedly abducted, assaulted and tortured with electric shocks and a screwdriver inserted into his private parts for nearly six hours by two men in Dehradun’s Patel Nagar area, police said on Monday.The incident came to light after the man lodged a police complaint on Sunday, following which police registered a case against the two accused -- Ankur Valmiki and Tahir (first name available) -- under BNS sections 125(b) (acts endangering human life), 127(2) (wrongful confinement) and 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt).Patel Nagar SHO Vinod Gusain said the complainant, who works with a local TV cable network, alleged that the incident occurred when he was walking home after work at around 8 pm on Friday.“While he was walking, the two accused, who were riding a two-wheeler, allegedly hit him from behind. The complainant fell on the ground. However, instead of checking on his condition, the two allegedly began assaulting him before abducting him and taking him to a shop in the Niranjanpur wholesale vegetable market. They allegedly tortured him by administering electric shocks and inserting a screwdriver into his private parts.

They kept him confined and assaulted him for nearly six hours before he managed to escape at around 3 am,” the SHO said.He added that the complainant then called his family members, who reached the spot and took him to a hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. “On Sunday, he lodged a complaint detailing the alleged assault. We have launched an investigation and are making efforts to arrest the accused at the earliest,” Gusain said.
