Rahul has filed a complaint alleging that on February 6, while he was away at work, the woman ran away with her brother-in-law.

Months later, the woman is now accused of abandoning the young man and fleeing once again- this time with his brother-in-law, along with Rs 2 lakh in cash and more valuables.
A woman from Aligarh, who had earlier shocked everyone by eloping with her daughter’s would-be groom, is once again in the spotlight after allegations of eloping with her brother-in-law.
Nearly ten months ago in April 2025, the woman, identified as Sapna Devi, stirred a major controversy after she left her home to live with her future son-in-law, Rahul, just days before her daughter’s wedding. She had reportedly taken cash and jewellery with her before moving to Sitamarhi in Bihar, where the two began living together.
Now, the case has taken another dramatic turn. Rahul has filed a complaint alleging that on February 6, while he was away at work, the woman ran away with her brother-in-law. As per news reports, he claimed that she took nearly Rs 2 lakh in cash and jewellery before leaving. He also alleged that he had heard an audio recording suggesting that the two were planning to live together and even conspired against him.
However, after the complaint surfaced, the woman arrived at the police station on Thursday, covering her face with a veil. According to Bhaskar English, Sapna Devi admitted that leaving her family to live with her son-in-law was a mistake and said she now regrets her decision.
She further accused Rahul of threatening and harassing her and claimed that he had taken her money and jewellery. She said she now wants to live independently and earn her livelihood on her own.
Police officials have said that they are examining the complaint. Since the matter involves consenting adults, it is being treated as a personal dispute, but the allegations of cash and jewellery being taken are under scrutiny. So far, no formal FIR has been confirmed.
Sapna Devi made headlines when she disappeared on April 6, 2025. She had absconded with her daughter’s fiancé just nine days before the scheduled wedding. The groom-to-be had fallen in love with his future mother-in-law, and the pair devised a plan to elope. Before fleeing, the woman took the jewellery and money saved for her daughter’s wedding.
Police had traced and detained her on April 18. Counselling was conducted at the police station, but instead of returning to her husband, she chose to go with Rahul, her daughter’s would-be groom. She had been living with him since then.
