Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport is set to reopen its upgraded Terminal 2 (T2) on October 26, 2025, which will ease passenger traffic and also promises to ensure better facilities to travellers.
The terminal, which was shut in April this year for an extensive five-month-long revamp, has undergone a complete transformation to provide passengers with a more seamless, safe, and future-ready travel experience.The reopening of T2 will mark a major boost to passenger capacity.Once operational, 120 daily domestic flights of Air India and IndiGo will shift operations to T2.Announcing the development, Mr. Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO-DIAL, said, “Terminal 2 is not just a facility upgrade—it’s a complete reimagination of the passenger journey.

Key Upgrades at Delhi Airport T2
India’s first autonomous docking aerobridges: Six new Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBBs) featuring autonomous docking technology have been installed. This first-of-its-kind system in India will allow quicker and smarter aircraft handling, reducing turnaround time and enhancing passenger convenience. A high-resolution Flight Information Display System (FIDS) and clearer signage improve navigation, while upgraded road connectivity ensures smoother access to and from the terminal.Safety and sustainability: The upgrade includes new HVAC systems for improved air quality, advanced fire safety systems, and stronger electrical infrastructure for uninterrupted operations. Easing passenger flow across IGI
Currently, Terminals 1 and 3 are operational at IGI. The reopening of T2 will help ease congestion across terminals during the busy winter season.
