The counting of votes for the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) bypolls is underway across 12 wards. BJP is leading in Chandni Chowk ward, with party candidate Suman Kumar Gupta ahead of AAP’s Harsh Sharma.

The elections were held on 30 November at 580 polling booths, with 51 candidates, including 26 women, contesting the vacant seats. The wards became vacant after councillors elected to the Assembly or Parliament stepped down.

This bye-election is being seen as a litmus test for the ruling BJP, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and the Congress, as all parties aim to gauge their influence ahead of larger political battles in Delhi.
