Delhi Teen Girl Stabbed By Stalker; Accused Dies By Suspected Suicide In Cylinder Blast

A teenage girl was allegedly stabbed multiple times in northeast Delhi’s Seemapuri area on Friday by a 24-year-old man, a suspected stalker, who allegedly committed suicide by setting off an LPG cylinder blast, police said. The girl is critically injured and is undergoing treatment, they said.

According to the police, the suspect and the victim were neighbours living in Old Seemapuri and that the man had been harassing her for some time, as per a preliminary investigation.

Police said the suspect, who worked as a delivery executive for an e-commerce portal, lived with his mother, who was not at home at the time of the blast.

A PCR call was received at Seemapuri police station at around 5:33 pm reporting that a girl had been stabbed with a knife and was lying unconscious. Police reached the spot, where they learnt that the injured woman had already been shifted to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital for treatment.

At the hospital, doctors declared the woman unfit to give a statement due to the severity of her injuries. A case under Section 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered.

Meanwhile, a cylinder blast at a house in New Seemapuri was reported later in the day. On reaching the spot, officers found that a 24-year-old man, identified as Jatin, son of late Maan Singh, had died in a fire at the residence where he was alone at the time of the incident.

The body was taken to GTB Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The burnt body has been preserved in the hospital mortuary for further examination.

During preliminary inquiry, police learnt that Jatin was the same person who had allegedly stabbed the woman earlier. Further investigation into the sequence of events and the circumstances surrounding the blast is underway, officials said.
