Delivery boy held for murder of teen girlfriend in Kandivli East within 24 hours of crime

Mumbai: Within 24 hours of a teenage girl being found brutally murdered in a forested area in Kandivli East, Samta Nagar police tracked down the suspect and arrested him on Friday. Police said the accused, 21-year-old Suraj Waghmare, and the teen were in a relationship but he objected to her interactions with other men. On Friday, police were informed about a girl, aged 16 to 18, being found dead about 1 km to 1.5 km from Damu Nagar in the forest. She had been stabbed to death.Police secured the location, informed the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to take samples from the spot and brought the dog squad in to look for clues. After checking with residents, looking through missing persons complaints, and scrutinising CCTV footage, police established the identity of the girl.Waghmare worked as a delivery boy. Police said that due to his possessiveness, the two had frequent arguments. He is suspected to have stabbed her to death in the forested area. He was taken into custody by the Samta Nagar police.
