Visakhapatnam: Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan will visit Pedapenki village in Balijipeta mandal of Parvathipuram Manyam district on July 6 to review the implementation of infrastructure works taken up to address long-standing public health issues in the tribal hamlet.

During the visit, he will inspect 20 newly constructed magic drains and several cement concrete (CC) roads. He is also expected to conduct a field-level review of conditions in the village.Pedapenki had earlier drawn the attention of the state government due to a high incidence of filariasis and poor drainage facilities. At one stage, 197 cases of filariasis were reported in the village, prompting concern among health authorities. Pawan Kalyan had previously held a high-level review meeting with officials, focusing on the village’s health and sanitation challenges. Authorities had also detected mosquito larvae capable of spreading diseases such as dengue and chikungunya, leading some tribal families to migrate from the village.

Following the intervention, encroachments along drainage channels were removed and infrastructure works worth ₹6.18 crore were undertaken under MGNREGS.
