One of the most auspicious days is Devshayani Ekadashi, when many Hindu devotees worship Lord Vishnu with great fervor and commitment. In Hinduism, this day has significant religious and spiritual meaning.

Devshayani Ekadashi 2025: Significance

Devshayani Ekadashi is one of the most auspicious and revered Ekadashis.

For Hindus, this day has a great religious and spiritual significance. Devotees of Lord Vishnu and Lord Krishna fast strictly and pray to the Lord on this holy day. On Dwadashi Tithi, the following day, they break their fast. One of the most potent fasts is Ekadashi Vrat, which allows one to achieve Moksha, or salvation. Devotees who observe Devshayani Ekadashi Vrat, can get place in Vaikuntha Dham, the home of Shri Hari once they leave their bodies, and be freed from all forms of suffering and previous sins.

However, there are other guidelines that people must adhere to when keeping this fast. Devotees get involved in taking a holy bath in Ganga river, hawan ritual, and also make donations and organize food stalls for needy people.

Chaturmas Period will begin after Devshayani Ekadashi

Dev Shayani Ekadashi means when Lord Vishnu, the preserver of this universe will go in Ksheer Sagar for cosmic sleep or yog nidra for four month. The period of four months is called as Chaturmas until the Lord of universe awakens on Dev Uthani Ekadashi or Prabodhini Ekadashi in the month of Kartik.

Devshayani Ekadashi 2025: Rituals

1. Take a holy bath early in the morning.2. Give bath to the of Laddoo Gopal, Lord Vishnu and Lord Krishna and place them on a wooden plank along with Shree Yantra (a symbol of Maa Lakshmi)3. Offer dry fruits, five seasonal fruits, Tulsi Patra, Panchamrit, yellow flowers or garland, and light a diya with desi ghee in front of the idol.4. Recite the Vishnu Sahasranama with sincerity and devotion.5. Chant the Krishna Maha Mantra, which is mentioned below.6. Chant Om Namo Bhagvate Vasudevaye with utmost devotion to Lord Vishnu.7. In the evening after sunset, those who are unable to observe a strict fast might consume Sattvik foods that are advised for fasting such as: fried potato with curd, and sabudana kheer.8. Fasting Rules for Devshayani Ekadashi

1. It is forbidden to pluck Tulsi Patra on the day of Ekadashi.2. Devotees shouldn't use body wash or soap when taking a bath.3. People should not get angry and say harsh words to people.4. Maintain your celibacy during this fast.5. It is forbidden to eat tamasik foods like meat, eggs, onions, and garlic.6. During Parana Time on Dwadashi Tithi, break your fast.
