Deworming is essential to achieve complete health, said District Collector K. Vetriselvi on the occasion of National Deworming Day on Tuesday (August 12, 2025). The Collector launched a campaign by administering Albendazole tablets to students.

Speaking on the occasion, she said that those who miss taking the tablets on Tuesday (August 12) will be covered on August 18 through a mop-up programme. Worm infestations, she noted, pose a serious obstacle to children’s physical and mental development.

Intestinal worms can cause anaemia, loss of appetite, weight loss, and other health issues. Taking Albendazole effectively eliminates the worms, paving the way for a healthier life, she said.

District Medical and Health Officer Dr. P.J. Amrutham, DCHS Dr. Paul Satish, NTR Medical Services DCD Dr. Rajeev, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan APC Dr. K. Pankaj Kumar, District ICDS Officer P. Sharada, PVO K. Narendra Krishna, Nodal Officer V. Venu, Programme Officer Dr. Sirisha, CDPO A. Satyavati, and other officials attended the programme.
