DGP releases ₹48 lakh for welfare of traffic police amid heatwave

Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta on Friday released ₹48 lakh for the welfare of traffic police personnel in view of the rising temperatures and heatwave conditions in the State.

The DGP directed officials to immediately release ₹48 lakh from the Police Department budget for the purpose.

The Commissioners of Police and Superintendents of Police were instructed to take steps for distribution of UV-protection goggles, face masks, ORS packets, water bottles and caps to traffic police personnel across the State using the allocated funds.

“About 3,200 police personnel working in the traffic wing in Andhra Pradesh will be provided with the protective material,” Mr. Harish Kumar Gupta said on Friday.

Meanwhile, home guards, constables, Sub-Inspectors (SIs), Circle Inspectors (CIs), Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) attached to the traffic wing thanked the DGP for releasing funds for the welfare of traffic police personnel, who have been discharging duties on roads during the summer.
