'Dhamaal 4' actor Riteish Deshmukh thought 'Tujhe Meri Kasam' would be his last film; ' Never thought that I would last so long in the industry'

Actor Riteish Deshmukh is among the most recognizable names in Hindi cinema today. However, the actor once believed his debut film could also be his final appearance on the big screen. In an earlier interview, Riteish reflected on the uncertainty he faced at the start of his acting career and how he gradually built a place for himself in the industry.

Debut film came with uncertainty

Riteish began his acting journey with 'Tujhe Meri Kasam' in 2003. While the film introduced him to audiences, the actor admitted that he had very little confidence about how long he would last in the competitive world of cinema.Looking back on his early days during a conversation with IANS in 2019, Riteish revealed that he never expected a long innings in the industry.Speaking candidly about his thoughts at the time, he said, "I thought 'Tujhe Meri Kasam' would be my first and last film of my career.

I never thought that I would last so long in the industry. I am grateful for all the opportunities I have received in my life."

Learning through every phase

The actor also described his career as a journey filled with challenges, growth and valuable lessons. According to Riteish, every stage of his professional life helped shape him into a better performer.Reflecting on the highs and lows he experienced, he said, "It was a roller-coaster ride with lots of ups and downs.

Each phase of my life has made me learn something. When I made my debut, I didn't even think of even surviving a decade in the industry but I worked hard... did films and tried to improvise myself with each project." Over time, that willingness to learn and adapt helped him remain relevant in an industry that constantly evolves.

Comedy became his biggest strength

Although Riteish explored different genres, comedy emerged as the space where he connected most strongly with audiences.

His effortless comic timing and energetic screen presence helped him build a loyal fan following. Several films played a major role in establishing that image. Projects such as 'Malamaal Weekly', 'Heyy Babyy', 'Dhamaal', 'Housefull', 'Double Dhamaal', 'Housefull 2' and 'Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum' contributed significantly to his popularity.In recent years, Riteish has taken on larger creative responsibilities.
