AMMK founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran on Thursday (February 12, 2026) criticised the DMK government over the “forced unemployment” of 328 teaching staff, who were working as Assistant Professors in the constituent colleges of Anna University across the State.
Citing reports that these staff, who have been working on a consolidated pay on a temporary basis, have been forced to be unemployed, Mr. Dhinakaran contended that such a move would affect the education of students in these educational institutions.
Their service was extended once in six months and were paid a consolidated pay for the past 17 years, he said, further pointing out that their service has not been extended since December last. Citing the DMK’s electoral assurance, Mr. Dhinakaran criticised the ruling government in this regard.
“It is condemnable that contrary to the assurance of the DMK, the government is attempting to send them home,” Mr. Dhinakaran said. He further urged the DMK government to regularise their services and also to fill up vacancies in colleges across the State.
