Ahead of the release of 'Dhurandhar 2', let's take a quick look at what happened in the first installment, 'Dhurandhar'.
The mastermind behind operation 'Dhurandhar'
In the film, Ajay Sanyal (played by R Madhavan) puts forth the idea of operation 'Dhurandhar,' in which trained Indian spies will infiltrate Pakistan's terror networks to receive information. Sanyal started operation 'Dhurandhar', a long-term plan, after the IC-814 hijack in 1999 and the 2001 Parliament attack.
For this, they recruit Jaskirat Singh Rangi, a man on death row, and train him to become a spy. He enters Lyari town in Pakistan as Hamza Ali Mazari, a local with a Balochi identity. He infiltrates the terror group led by Rehman Dakait, aka Rehman Baloch (played by Akshaye Khanna), who wants to rule the entire Lyari town. Hamza enters the gang with the help of Mohammed Aalam (Gaurav Gera), who owns a juice shop in the locality and is also an Indian informer.
Hamza also makes a deal with Jameel Jamali, a political leader of the Pakistani Awami Party (played by Rakesh Bedi). Hamza marries Jamali's daughter Yalina (Sara Arjun) to continue his operation in Pakistan.
He finds out that Major Iqbal (played by Arjun Rampal), an ISI operative, was behind the 26/11 attacks on Mumbai.Despite Hamza providing information about the terror strike to India, attacks still take place.
This makes him hasten his operation to rise to the top. With the help of SP Chaudhary Aslam (Sanjay Dutt) and father-in-law Jameel Jamali, Hamza plans to kill Rehman Dakait. After ambushing and killing Dakait at a secluded location, Hamza takes him to the hospital to show the media his loyalty toward Dakait. That ends the storyline of the first part.
